Biography
Birth name: Jeremy Boring
Date of birth: October 8, 1969
Place of birth: Saugus, California
College: American Academy of Dramatic Arts
Siblings: . He was the 2nd born out of four children.

-Jeremy Davies was born Jeremy Boring on October 8, 1969 in Saugus, California. He is the second of four children - he has an older brother Josh (who is an Air Force pilot), a younger brother Zachary, and a  younger sister Katy. When Jeremy was a small child his parents moved to Traverse City, Michigan where he spent his early childhood. When he was still a child his parents divorced and he went to live with his mother in Kansas. He was subsequently moved around a lot during his childhood, living in places such as Wyoming, California, and New Orleans, among others.

His mother had contracted Lupus and passed away due to complications from the disease when Jeremy was 8. He then went to live with his father and step-mother in Santa Barbara, California. In the mid-1980's the family moved to Rockford, Iowa. While he was in California, Jeremy became interested in theater and acting. When he moved to Iowa, however, most of the teenage boys were pursuing careers in sports. Although this was what was expected of him, Jeremy did not have any desire to pursue sports. After he finished high school, he moved back to California and enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he earned an Associates Degree. For his stage name, he chose "Davies" because it is his mother's maiden name. After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Arts, he began to get small roles in television series such as 'The Wonder Years', 'General Hospital', and 'Melrose Place', as well as in television movies such as 'Shoot First: A Cop's Vengeance' and '1775'. In 1993 he was cast in a Subaru commercial and casting directors took notice of him and he began receiving scripts for feature films.

He received much critical praise for his roles in films such as 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Spanking the Monkey'. Rather than go the route of traditional formulaic Hollywood fare, Jeremy decided to move his career in the direction of playing more deep and intense characters in smaller films. He brilliantly brings to life the deep compexities of his characters and can successfully elicit emotions without needing to use words.

Rather than living the traditional young Hollywood lifestyle of excess, Jeremy chose to wisely invest his money and concentrate on his career. He never wanted to be in a position where he had to accept a film offer out of desperation for the money. He took care to make sure that he can only work on films out of pure desire and not need. Hoping to eventually become a film director himself, he sought guidance and instruction from some of the most acclaimed directors such as Lars von Trier, Werner Herzog, and Wim Wenders. He did not pursue an acting career for the sake of his own fame and fortune, instead he turned his career into an interesting learning experience - as he himself puts it, " a film school."
