Jeremy Davies: Niels
This movie is the second in
a trilogy called 'America the Land of Opportunity' by Danish director
Lars von Trier. It has the same bare set design as 'Dogville' and some
of the same characters. Also set during the depression, Grace comes
upon a plantation called Manderlay where slavery still exists. Shocked
and disgusted by what she sees, Grace decides to stay at Manderlay and
with the help of her father's gangsters force the owners to free the
slaves. She also attempts to help the freed slaves adjust to their new
lives but finds more than she bargained for in the process. Jeremy
Davies plays Niels, one of the gangsters assigned to Manderlay to
assist Grace.
