The Locusts (1997)
Jeremy Davies: Josephy 'Flyboy" Potts
This movie tells the story of a drifter, Clay Hewitt, looking
for work who came to a small town in Kansas in the 1950's. He finds a job on a
feed lot and thus finds himself in a home full of dark family secrets. The
family matriarch, Delilah, is an aggressive man-eater. Her 21-year old son,
Flyboy, is withdrawn and sullen and does not speak to anyone except a pet bull
that belonged to his dead father. Eight years earlier, his father had committed
suicide after finding his mother in bed with one of the neighborhood boys.
Distraught and overcome by his father's death, Flyboy was sent to a mental
institution for eight years. Clay tries to befriend the lonely Flyboy and bring
him out of his shell. Jeremy Davies portrays Flyboy. He does a masterful job in
depicting Flyboy's vast emotions as he attempts to live a normal life while
being trapped by the memories of his family's awful secrets.
