Jeremy Davies: Karl Richter
This movie is set in the beautiful Italian City of Florence
in 1938, as Europe is on the brink of war. A young widow, Mary Panton, who is
vacationing in Florence finds herself in deep trouble after she impulsively acts
on a story told to her by a friend. When she encounters a destitute young
Austrian refugee, she takes him into her extravagant villa so that he can
experience what it is like to be in a rich home for one night of his life. Her
plan goes awry and she finds herself desperately trying to hide a terrible
secret from her friends and the Italian fascist government. Jeremy Davies
brilliantly plays the role of Karl Richter, the impassioned Austrian refugee at
the center of the scandal.
